Building a Healthy Life for a Healthy Mind – Dhruti PEERS at CTTE College for Women
On 7 October 2026, Dhruti Charitable Trust conducted an interactive session under the Dhruti PEERS (Peer Engagement for Emotional Resilience & Support) Program at Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, in observance of World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2026.
The session, themed “Building a Healthy Life for a Healthy Mind,” aimed to help students understand everyday stress, recognise their emotions, and explore simple, practical strategies to support their emotional well-being. Through five interactive activity stations, students engaged in self-reflection, positive expression, and peer learning.
Interactive Activities
1. Stress Ball Reset
Students explored a simple hands-on technique to pause, release tension, and take a moment to reset during stressful situations.
2. Box Breathing
Students practised a structured breathing technique to promote calmness, improve focus, and manage moments of stress.
3. Control & Choice
This activity encouraged students to distinguish between what they can control, what they can influence, and what they may need to let go of.
4. Gratitude Wall
Students reflected on the people, experiences, and everyday moments they were grateful for, encouraging positive expression and appreciation.
5. My Coping Toolkit
Students identified healthy coping strategies, supportive people, and meaningful activities they could turn to when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
Student-Led Engagement and Coordination
The activities were planned by Ms. Kalpagam Jagannadan and facilitated by Dhruti Saathi student interns, who engaged their peers in meaningful conversations and experiential learning.
On-ground coordination and support were provided by Ms. Dhanushree, Assistant Program Coordinator, who supported the Saathi students in ensuring the smooth conduct of the activities.
Impact and Learning
The interactive session provided students with opportunities to reflect on their emotions, practise simple stress-management techniques, recognise sources of support, and strengthen their understanding of emotional well-being. By creating a supportive space for participation and peer learning, the activities encouraged students to adopt small, practical habits that can contribute to a healthier mind and a more balanced daily life.
Through the Dhruti PEERS Program, Dhruti Charitable Trust continues to promote mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and peer support among young people.
Pause. Breathe. Reflect. Connect. Grow.
