Dhruti PEERS Mental Health Awareness Program at St. Peter’s Collegeh
Dhruti Charitable Trust conducted an experiential and interactive mental health awareness program at St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research as part of its Dhruti PEERS (Peer Engagement for Emotional Resilience & Support) Program, in connection with World Mental Health Day.
The session focused on helping students understand everyday stress, recognise their emotions, and explore practical ways to support their emotional well-being. Through five engaging activity stations, students participated in hands-on experiences that encouraged self-reflection, positive expression, and peer learning.
Interactive Activities
1. Stress Ball Reset
Students participated in a simple hands-on activity designed to help them pause, release tension, and take a moment to reset during stressful situations.
2. Box Breathing
Students practised a structured breathing technique to slow down, centre themselves, and create a moment of calm when facing stress.
3. Control & Choice
This activity encouraged students to distinguish between what they can control, what they can influence, and what lies beyond their control, helping them focus their energy on what they can change.
4. Gratitude Wall
Students reflected on the people, experiences, and little moments they were grateful for. The activity promoted positive expression, appreciation, and a sense of connection.
5. My Coping Toolkit
Students identified healthy coping strategies, supportive people, and meaningful activities they could turn to when feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or emotionally low. Student-Led Engagement
The activities were planned by Ms. Kalpagam Jagannadan, who mentored the Dhruti Saathi student interns in facilitating the activities for their peers. This peer-led approach created opportunities for meaningful conversations, shared learning, and greater awareness of emotional well-being. Impact and Learning
Through these simple yet meaningful activities, students explored practical approaches to managing stress, expressing emotions, and responding to everyday challenges. The session encouraged them to develop greater self-awareness, recognise healthy coping strategies, and understand the value of peer support in maintaining emotional well-being.
Through the Dhruti PEERS Program, Dhruti Charitable Trust continues to promote mental health awareness and emotional resilience among students by making mental well-being conversations accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.
Pause. Breathe. Reflect. Connect. Grow.
